The AuraGen® Underhood Mobile Power Source is an under-the-hood,
vehicle/vessel engine driven generator power source for those requiring
responsive, on-demand electrical power anywhere, anytime, while
saving time, weight, size and money - and at practical engine speed.
Aura Systems, Inc. provides AuraGen® in two versions: The AuraGen Commercial system and its DoD VIPER (Vehicle Integrated Primary Electrical Resource) heavy duty version.
The AuraGen/VIPER is of direct interest to those whose missions or jobs require vehicles or vessels needing thousands of watts of AC, DC and/or Engine-off Silent Watch electrical power of the highest quality, from engine idle to redline, parked/docked and mobile/underway. The AuraGen/VIPER can provide high, continuous output of both AC and/or DC power even at engine idle. It does this while saving hundreds to thousands of pounds of weight and tens to hundreds of cubic feet of volume compared to hauled or towed gensets, or to alternator/inverter combinations.
The AuraGen/VIPER life cycle cost is notably lower than comparable power gensets and requires no prep, handling or scheduled maintenance, nor extra measures against theft.
The AuraGen VIPER is capable of providing up to 8,000 Watts of pure sine wave AC or AC/DC power - continuously as required, and peak power up to 9,000 Watts for 2 seconds, even at low effective engine speeds, whether the vehicle is parked or moving. It can also provide Engine-Off/Silent operation with its integral Inverter Charger System (ICS) configuration. Dual VIPER sets are available for up to 16, 000 watts continuous and 18,000 watts peak power.

AuraGenŽ Commercial system provides civilian first responders with on-demand power when and where they need it.
Any type of equipment can be powered, from the most sensitive sensor, to the most demanding laptop, to essential batteries for phones, radios, computers, cameras -- at the same time brute force equipment such as pumps, compressors, drills, lights, coffee pots and microwaves are operated. All can be operated and charged whether the vehicle is moving or parked. The instant on-demand power responsiveness and full vehicle mobility of the AuraGen VIPER cannot be approached by gensets.
This value is further strengthened with the AuraGen DC ability to augment or replace the alternator with very high output at low engine speed, saving vehicle batteries, alternators and maintenance. And, with the AuraGen VIPER generator being much more efficient than the conventional alternator -- 80% vs. 50% -- the AuraGen/VIPER can provide continuous high 28VDC output, even at low engine speed, without burning up or severely under-charging batteries.
Customer mobile applications include, but are not limited to: National Defense, Homeland
Security, Law Enforcement, Emergency-Rescue, Telecommunications, Utilities, and
Municipalities. Customers include Federal agencies (Army, USMC, SOCOM, Air Force, NRL,
FBI, BATF, etc.); major telecom, cable and utility companies (AT&T, Time Warner, SoCal
Edison, etc.); municipal agencies (Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept.,
LA Dept. Water & Power,
etc.); General Motors Goodwrench® Mobile Service Fleet; maritime organizations (USN, USCG,
NOAA, others) and world leading oil and gas field service companies (Schlumberger, BJ
Services), among others. Thousands of AuraGens are on the road across North America.
Most recently, the U.S. Coast Guard has awarded the production contract for its new Response Boat-Medium (RB-M) Fleet to the Marinette Marine - Kvichak Marine Team, which uses a Dual AuraGen® VIPER to provide all electrical power for the boats. The baseline contract award to Aura will be worth over $3.6 million. Production procurement is expected to start this calendar year and extend through 2012.
